From Madison Democrat 50th Anniversary
Published by the Madison Democrat, 1908
Joseph Warner, Sr., head of the Warner family, was a remarkable old pioneer. He was a Marylander and some of his sons came to Madison county about 1808-10, the father coming later. It is said the elder Warner rode a horse to Washington City and back, when 100 years old, and three years later rode the same horse to Indiana to visit his daughter. He died in that state a year later.
